January 20, 2010 – Fort Wayne. Heartland Sings: A Lincoln Celebration is a multimedia concert event scheduled for two performances: Saturday February 6, 2010 at 8:00PM and Sunday February 7, 2010 at 4:00PM in the University of Saint Francis North Campus Auditorium.
This program features performances of popular songs, marches, and dances designed to return you to the days of the 1860’s. Hear, see, and experience what President Lincoln – and the entire country – listened to during this period in our history. Researched from the archives of the former Lincoln Museum in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the music, words, dance, and costumes provide a glimpse of the social and political issues of the day.
Joining the HCC in this creative theatrical presentation are members of the Fort Wayne Ballet, the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, Civic Theatre, and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, with support from the University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts, IPFW, Arts United Center and Northeast Indiana Public Radio. This event promises to be an exciting experience for the whole family. Be a part of this celebration of the life and times of President Abraham Lincoln. Join in the 200th birthday celebration of one of our greatest presidents.
This program is presented with special support from a generous anonymous donor, the Ian & Mimi Rolland Foundation, Friends of the Lincoln Collection, Indiana Arts Commission, Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, and HCC Member Supporters.
