December 1, 2008 – FORT WAYNE, IN. The Heartland Chamber Chorale will perform Georg Friedrich Handel’s famous oratorio Messiah with orchestra featuring members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.

Sunday December 14, 2008 @ 4:00PM (reception at 3:00PM)

Monday December 15, 2008 @ 7:30PM (reception at 6:30PM)

Pre-concert receptions to feature a great historical presentation on the Images of Messiah.

CONCERT VENUE: Plymouth Congregational Church

This presentation of Messiah is performed in a manner typical of Handel’s day, featuring chamber choir and orchestra with soloists from the chorus. Tempi are lighter and vocal demands on the singer are no less than virtuosic. The oratorio will be performed with one intermission; duration of the concert is approximately 2 hours.

A pre-concert reception will be held in the Folsom Room at Plymouth Congregational Church one hour prior to performance. The reception will also feature a brief program on historical images and iconography of the Messiah prepared by University of Saint Francis art historian Esperanca Camara. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be served. There is no extra charge for this reception.
