Stephen Paulus, Grammy Winning Composer, in Fort Wayne November 7 - 9, 2008
November 2, 2008 – FORT WAYNE, IN. The Minnesota-based composer Dr. Stephen Paulus will be in residence here in Fort Wayne as part of the Heartland Chamber Chorale guest artist program. His residency is in conjunction with the performance of his English language one-act opera, The Three Hermits, given by Heartland Chamber Chorale, an independent professional chorus in residence on the campus of the University of Saint Francis.. The Three Hermits is a charming tale of the effect of three simple men on a grand Archbishop of the Russian Church. The libretto is taken from a story by Leo Tolstoy and delivers its lessons with charm and humor. The opera is in one act, sung in English and lasts about 70 minutes. This production is directed by Maestro Robert Nance, with stage direction by Greg Stieber. Members of the Chorale are joined by members of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
As a former president of ASCAP, Dr. Paulus has special insight into the music industry and performance. His lively wit and practical ideas are informative and entertaining. Dr. Paulus will meet with USF students and faculty in the North Campus recording studio on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. to share his extensive knowledge of composing, publishing and marketing.
